New website for RGU
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The new official bilingual website (www.rgu.ac.in) of Rajiv Gandhi University was launched by Vice Chancellor today at the University Council Hall. The Central Govt had issued a directive to all the central organisations for creation and maintenance of a bilingual (both English and Hindi) website, said a press statement.

ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Three days Personal Contact Programme conducted by Hindi Cell, Rajiv Gandhi University in collaboration with Central Hindi Training Institute, Ministry of Home Affairs concluded with gathering of administrative officers and trainees at the University’s Council Hall yesterday.
The programme was organised with the objective to promote Official Language in official work.
Attending the closing ceremony, RGU VC Prof. Tamo Mibang said that Hindi language is widely used after local dialects by the people of the state as medium of communication.
Vice Chancellor exhorted all staffs of RGU to make genuine efforts to promote Official language (Hindi) in RGU.
Hindi Officer, Gumpi Nguso further informed that RGU will soon notify in Gazette of India after acquiring 80% of its employee having working knowledge of Hindi in Office work. She also added that as per Central University norms Hindi Teaching Scheme, Hindi Typing Scheme/Stenography is already in process. NERIST, NHPC are also taking part in the schemes run by Hindi Cell, RGU in collaboration with MHA.

The ASM of Kebali village had submitted a letter to the DC regarding the problem, following which a board of officers from the DC's office has reportedly been constituted for the survey.
DC Roing Shiv Kumar has informed that he has asked the BRTF to submit a report on the same, at the earliest. As per reports, the administration had made it clear to the BRTF about the disposal sites and a map of the same was also submitted to them, well before the start of their work. Engineers of the BRTF had, reportedly, accompanied the team from the administration for identifying and selecting appropriate sites for the disposal of the waste.
As reported on this daily earlier, the village is under threat as the rains have caused the improperly dumped mud and other debris to flow into the low lying village, damaging a fish pond run by a Self Help Group and many other plantations of the villagers, and also disrupting the normal life of the village.
Bandh unjustified: ACS
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) today said that bandh call proposed by Jan Andolan Committee (JAC) led by state BJP unit has no justification.
Coming down heavily on BJP, the ACS said that BJP is not a pressure group and the party is mandated to raise the issues of public interest in state Assembly. All the BJP MLAs must work out strategy for sound financial position of the state, the ACS said adding that only criticism and complaint will not help in making the state financially sound.

AAPSTEWA for enhancement of earned leave
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The All Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Employees Welfare Association (AAPSTEWA) has demanded that the government approved conditional granting of 13 months pay and allowances be made without restrictions. It wrote a letter to the Transport Secretary in this regard.
It has sought enhancing of 30 days earned leave to 65 days.
Its other demands include filling up of vacant post of Group A to B gazetted posts, promotion of Group C staff, conduction of DPC which has not been conducted since last five years now, modification of Recruitment Rule, settlement of pension cases and modification of the bus body.
Orientation of multi sectoral dev prog
ITANGAR, Jun 18: A day long Orientation Programme on implementation of Multisectoral Development Programme was organised by the Block Development Officer, CD Block, Basar under the aegis of Department of Social Justice & Empowerment and Tribal Affairs which was sponsored by Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt of India on June 17 at Basar. Tirap gets new SP
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Jasmeet Singh, IPS has joined as SP of insurgency hit Tirap on 15th June.
He took the charge from Ajit Kumar Singla, IPS who has been transferred to New Delhi.
Tirap district is gripped by insurgency problem due to presence of number of underground groups operating. The insurgents take advantage of the long porous borders with Myanmar to sneak into Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts. In fact, Tirap is used as a corridor by the ultras.
Soon after his joining Singh said that he would serve the district with utmost sincerity and sought cooperation from all quarters. Tirap DC Kamlesh Joshi, IAS while welcoming the new SP assured all cooperation from district administration. (DIPRO)

The local administration has sounded a high alert and cautioned the people to stay vigilant as the place is prone to sudden floods every year during this time.
A massive flood had hit Seijosa 2004 wherein large scale damage was done which changed the entire topography and town planning.
ADC along with Pani Tayem, ZPM, B. Rai, BEO and some senior citizens visited the places of damage to take a stock of the situation.
Bail rejected to opium peddlers

ROING, Jun 18: Bail has not been granted to the three women who were arrested with huge quantity of opium at Roing under the NDPS Act recently. The three women will remain in police remand till Saturday, after which they will be remanded to judicial custody.
The trio have been reported to originally belong to Medo under Wakro circle, where they cultivate and produce the opium for supply as per demands. Reportedly, opium cultivation and supply is their main source of income.
DSP Habung Hailyang informed that specimen of the opium seized from these suppliers has been sent to experts and the expert decision of the same is still awaited.
When asked about the allegations made by many that the police personnel are involved in both supply and abuse of opium, Hailyang said, "If any personnel is found to be indulging in such illegal activity, he will be strictly dealt with according to the Disciplinary Act 1999. Besides, we have routine group meetings wherein we motivate and encourage, especially the young recruits, to refrain from any kind of harmful substances, including alcohol and smoking".
Meanwhile, the police claimed to be on a constant vigilance of drugs being smuggled into the district, especially from Lohit district.
Absentee employees warned of stern disciplinary action
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: Referring to the Capital bandh call given by an organisation on June 19, the state Govt today informed that stern disciplinary action shall be initiated against those Govt employees who remain absent from duties on the day.
It informed all Government employees posted in Itanagar Capital complex area including Naharlagun, Nirjuli, Banderdewa that absenting from office during the bandh call shall be treated as participation in bandh call.

Govt recommends 29 roads to be considered under SARDP-
ITANAGAR, Jun 18: The state cabinet in its sitting of Tuesday recommended for declaring
29 roads as Interstate Highways, State Highways and District Roads to be considered
under SARDP-
In this connection, the AP State Road Development and Regulation Bill will be tabled in the ensuing Budget Session which will pave way for notifying identified specific roads as Interstate Highways, State Highways and District Roads.
It requires mention here that state roads constructed few decades back are in dilapidated condition, few of which are beyond usable for commuters. This move of the state cabinet shall give new lease to these roads besides improving the surface communication network of the state.

Defective construction of Mebo water supply schemes alleged

PASIGHAT, Jun 18: Alleging gross irregularity in construction works and mismanagement of fund meant for Potable Water Supply schemes executed in Namsing and Mer village under Mebo subdivision in East Siang district, the local people including the members of Mebo Area Bachao Committee (MABC) have demanded the Public Health Engineering & Water Supply (PHED &WS) department to conduct inquiry to unearth the facts.

Chief Engineer, the MABC president Karo Tayeng said that construction of filter and
ground tanks in both the projects are defective and the construction was not done
as per specification. The storage tank constructed at Mer village is unfit for use,
while the filter tank has collapsed before it was used. Pointing out another defect
in the water supply system, Tayeng said that iron filtrate water at ground tank again
lifted to iron-
The committee also reported improper construction of water supply scheme at Namsing village, wherein constructions of filter and storage tank are left incomplete. It has urged the higher authorities of the PHED &WS for strict monitoring of the ongoing Water Supply schemes at Mer and Namsing villages and sought immediate rectification of the defective RCC structures and overhead tanks.
Meanwhile, the MABC has also approached East Siang Deputy Commissioner demanding institution of magisterial inquiry into the alleged irregularity and financial mismanagement in the execution of Potable Water Supply Scheme at Mer and Namsing village and to take necessary steps to redress grievances of the local villagers.
NGO reach out to BRO labourers
TOHANGAM, Jun 18: The Casually Paid Labourers (CPLs) of the Border Roads Organization are well known for their tireless public service. Their grit and determination is witnessed more often by all around in the hilly border areas where they maintain road connectivity braving bad weather and life risking road restoration tasks.
The Sardar of the 20 family strong team of CPLs stationed in Tohangam, responsible for the road from Parshuramkund to Demwe was greatly delighted when Deputy Commissioner Anjaw Nyabin Ete reached their base camp with gifts for them. The gifts were offered as a mark of salutation to these great brave men who continue to hold fort and render services in the difficult and hilly areas inspite of facing challenging hardships. Social leader Chinmay Panth distributed mosquito nets and walter filters while the DC gave away Schneider solar lamps to eleven families. The DC appreciated the officers and men of the 1446 BCC under the command of the 48 Border Roads Task Force for the excellent services. He also assured all support from the district administration. The welfare measure for the BRO personal was taken up by a Lohit based NGO in saluting the men committed to nation building as part of ANUDIN 2015 celebrations.
The local organisers provided similar assistance to nine more families serving in various locations under the 48 BRTF.

Orgs for time bound transfer regulation

The association opined that after the completion of respective tenure, the employee should be transferred to other district, the release added.
Meanwhile, All Arunachal Pradesh Labour Union (AAPLU) has also reminded the Chief Secretary to implement routine basis transfer and posting of officers particularly engineers after completion of three years. The union requested the CS to give direction to all head of departments to implement the transparent transfer and posting policy in letter and spirit.

Carrying weapon to office should be banned
When the news about attack on Nirjuli division power department executive engineer emerged, the entire Arunachal came out and strongly condemned the incident. Such kind of repeated assaults on government employees has become matter of grave concern. However, in this case the alleged attackers were immediately arrested by the police. But later on family member of the alleged accused claimed that engineer had tried to harm them by using gun and that minor scuffle broke out when they tried to snatch away the gun from him.
Both the side has lodged FIR against each other and only time will tell who is telling truth. Whatever may be the situation the accused group has no right to barge into government office and try to intimidate the official. That too they arrived after office hour was over. Such act should be strongly discouraged by every peace loving citizens. Nevertheless it is also wrong on the part of government officials to carry weapon to their offices. This is against service rule and government should take action against such officers. If government official starts carrying weapon to their offices and intimidate the visitors, it will send wrong message to the society. There will be no difference between them and criminals.

This party,at times, was and will be the one to condemn the bandh call when they are in power. If the BJP is so concerned for the state, there are many other ways of protests to ventilate the grievances apart from the strikes or bandh call. Why not opt for them?
Enough had we seen the dramas of bandh call by various pressure groups and no benefit had yielded than the sufferings of a common man. Thus, from now on kindly give up the bandh call if you so care for the growth of our state.

The missing officer
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned authority of State Bank of India (SBI) Itanagar, towards the inconvenience faced by customers at SBI, Aalo Branch for the last couple of months.
In the first week of the last month, I had visited SBI Aalo Branch to apply for an ATM Card as my old one was not working properly. I was told by a staff that “person dealing with Loan/ATM Card is out of Station and shall be back after five days”. As such after a week, I visited again and I was told to return after five more days. Since then I have visited the bank eight times but have not been lucky enough to meet the officer.
My request to the concerned authority of the SBI Aalo branch is that, for the convenience of the customers please hang a notice stating probable dates to get that officer and requests the concerned authority of SBI Itanagar to send the officer as early as possible.

Attack on journalists
Dear Editor,
Media is considered as ‘Mirror’ in the modern society and the media plays significant role in strengthening the society. But today the media has become victims and attacks on Journalists are common phenomena across the world. Though we are living in 21st century but we are not mentally civilized because there is no equality and no humanity among us. There still prevails ‘Jungle Raj’ in our society and mostly journalists get victimized while doing their duty. The assaults, threatening and physical attacks from unknown persons are found everywhere.
The recent attack on a journalist who posted on Facebook about an Uttar Pradesh Minister’s illegal activities was allegedly burnt alive and another journalist who exposed dubious land deals was tied to a motor cycle and dragged several meters. It is said that no arrests have been made so far. Is Uttar Pradesh a democratic state? Has there been equal opportunity among the citizen?
Likewise somehow there are many journalists victimized across the world such as the most brutal attack and killing of 11 persons of Charlie Hebdo of the French Satirical weekly on 7th January 2015, journalists attacked and injured in Baltimore Riots, two Palestinians journalists were attacked by Israeli Security personnel, BBC journalists attacked and equipment smashed in Russia and many more. Such attacks are occurring more often in public places which render journalists unable to continue their work properly. There are many young people who opted for journalism but they are being discouraged by such peoples.
Let not be cruel to anyone and let us not be disturbance to other’s work. Be like a human being and a mature person. Treat equally, friendly and cooperate among ourselves to work together for better tomorrow.
